Wowza Introduces HTML5 Media Player

Wowza Media Systems today announced availability of the Wowza Player, an embeddable HTML5 media 玩er for mobile, desktop, Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac OS X. The 玩er is free to Wowza Streaming Engine and Streaming Cloud customers.

According to a Wowza blog post, the 玩er offers responsive 玩back without plug-ins; UI controls for resizing, 玩, 暂停, 寻求, 沉默的, fullscreen, and autostart; adaptive bitrate wiht AI-based quality optimization; DVR capabilities; support for audio-only streams; and a JavaScript API including ID3 metadata.

"Wowza Player is a new media 玩er designed to complement Wowza-based HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) workflows," writes Wowza CEO David Stubenvoll. "Additionally, the 玩er's artificial intelligence (AI)  optimizes streaming bitrates based on changing network conditions. Wowza Player is easily embeddable, providing greater flexibility and control over the entire streaming workflow while taking advantage of the emerging HLS 玩back requirements of today’s devices."

Wowza will continue to offer support for third-party 玩ers such as JW Player, Bitmovin, THEO玩er, and others, including native 玩ers for set-top boxes and mobile devices, according to the blog post.
